My son wanted this for 15 years to replace the headset microphone on a stand, and my headphones PX100 Senheisser. He likes to play Modern Warfare 2 on the PC and was convinced that the turtle beach ear force x11 is improvement over the current regime. Read reviews and save money and buy ‘ear. Unfortunately, Turtle Beach headsets are terrible and he was very sorry. There is a constant hissing sound coming from headphones. I’m 49 and I hurt – my son is 15 years, with more sensitive Hearing is unbearable and can not be more than ten minutes. I tried to decrease the volume controller on the headphones small and increase the volume on your computer, making it a little “better, but still audible wheezing. My guess is the lack of head protection during a short-line and headphones, and this white noise is the result. I can not comment on whether the same thing happened on the Xbox, but we have tried on two PCs, and we had to whistle the same problem. The sound quality was very bad – it was hard, brittle and lacking bass. I think people who buy, do not want to musicality, but are more interested in hearing where the clips or the next steps, but the quality of sound uncomfortable to use them for any length of unpleasant experiences. My advice – do not buy it!

Great Headset Saved my Relationship
This headset saved my relationship, and kept me playing my xbox360 MW2. You see my girlfriend would get really upset at me for playing Modern Warfare 2 online. The gun shots and the harriers flying over would literately drive her crazy. So i finally sucked it up and bought this headset. She thinks it is the greatest thing i have purchased in a long time.
Plus – the ear pieces are comfortable, they don’t squeeze even my huge head, the mic is firm and is easily movable, having a mute button, it connects right to my receiver (i just purchased a 1/4′ headphone jack that has a 1/8′ female connector into my receiver. I am getting (what sounds like) Dolby digital surround sound in my head phones (once again i am using a headset plug into my receiver not the red/white connectors), the audio changes from left to right and i can hear things i could never hear before. The ability to turn the chat volume up and down is also a plus. My voice sounds much better than it did with my old headsets, and i feel much more into the games. I have done much better in MW2 since getting the headset.
Cons – Since im not using the red and white connectors and i am using a headset port on my receiver i can not say that all headsets have this problem but i do get some feed back that i can hear distinctly when there is no audio present. i have a feeling it is from the headset jack that i purchased and not the headset itself. Also there is feed back if you are charging your controller while you play (and the mic cable is plugged into your controller).
If you are in my shoes and you are using the HDMI cable from your xbox to a receiver, and you purchased this headset check to see if your receiver has a HEADSET (most do)plug. If its like mine and has a 1/4′ plug then you can purchase a 1/4″Male to 1/8″ female at radio shack for 6 bucks. I would recommend the stereo one instead of the mono plug so you can get Dolby surround in your headphones (it will let you know where bullets are coming from, and you can hear people behind you as well). It will have you from purchasing the crappy Microsoft adapter cable, and will keep you from taking apart your AV cable that came with your box.
My Experience
First of all, I got this X11 headset to play better at Modern Warfare 2. I wanted something that would help me get an edge and help my KD.
The headset is comfortable to wear and feels light on my head. The only issue I have with it is that sometimes when I play, there is an echo of whatever I say during the game. I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced that, but I have.
I picked this headset because it got good reviews here on Amazon and it was relatively inexpensive for me being a college student. I Couldn’t afford the wireless RF ones, but I didn’t think spending $150 or whatever they cost on a gaming headset could be justified. Plus, you have to charge that whereas the X11 ones you do not. The cord that comes with it does not bother me as I play close to the tv anyway.
Overall, I recommend these headphones. However, Turtle Beach may be getting a call from me soon about that echoing I hear.
Breaks easily
This headset is great for people looking for high sound quality but the problem lies in it’s built. Product breaks easily even though the headset itself is durable. The wires however are easily torn and can happen in a matter of months. Mine broke down in two months and I couldn’t talk the people. In addition I asked people I play with on Xbox Live and World of Warcraft who had the same headset and they all conveyed having the same issues. Honestly I can’t recommend anyone getting this product unless they plan to buy a very expensive padded case to ensure the wires don’t get torn.
A Must Have.
Modern Warfare is the game of the century and this headset is must have if you want to be successful and be on the winning side. The headset allows you to know where you enemies are from the sound alone. Best money I’ve spent in a while.

The End of an Ear $9.59 Of all the projects Robert Wyatt created apart from his tenure with Soft Machine and Matching Mole, The End of an Ear has to be the strangest, and among the most beautiful and misunderstood recordings of his career. Recorded near the end of his membership in Soft Machine, End of an Ear finds Wyatt experimenting far more with jazz and avant-garde material than in the jazz-rock-structured environment of his band. The Wyatt on The End of an Ear (a play on words for the end of the SM era, and another session called “Ear of the Beholder”) is still very much the fiery drummer and percussionist who is interested in electronic effects and out jazz and not the composer and interpretive singer of his post-accident years. Influenced by Miles Davis’ electric bands and the fledgling Weather Report who did their first gigs in the U.K., Wyatt opens and closes the album with two readings of Gil Evans’ “Las Vegas Tango, Pt. 1.” These are the most structured pieces on the recording, and the only ones not dedicated in some way: “To Mark Everywhere,” “To Caravan and Brother Jim,” “To Nick Everyone,” “To the Old World (Thank You for the Use of Your Body, Goodbye),” “To Carla, Marsha, and Caroline (For Making Everything Beautifuller),” and others. The titles reveal how personal the nature of these sound experiments can be. Wyatt, because of his association with many in the Canterbury scene, not the least of which is SM mate Elton Dean who prominently appears here, was learning alternate structures and syntax for harmony, as well as the myriad ways rhythm could play counterpoint to them in their own language. The interplay between Wyatt, bassist Neville Whitehead, cornet player Marc Charig, and alto man Dean on “To Nick Everyone” is astonishing. Wyatt creates time from the horn lines and then alters it according to Whitehead’s counterpoint both to the formal line and the improvisations. Toward the end of the track, Wyatt’s piano is dubbed in and he reveals just how expansive he views this new harmonic approach. The piano becomes a percussion instrument purely, a timekeeper in accordance with the bass, and the drums become counterpoint — in quadruple time — to everyone else in the band. When David Sinclair’s organ enters the fray and another piano courtesy of Mark Ellidge, as well as assorted percussion by Cyril Ayers, the entire thing becomes a strange kind of rondo in free jazz syntax. Elsewhere, on “To Caravan and Brother Jim,” a 2/4 time signature opens the track and the organ plays almost a lounge-jazz-type line with drums rumbling in the back of the mix, almost an afterthought, and Ellidge’s piano stumbling in with dissonant trills and riffs until he creates a microtonal line against the organ’s now carnival chords until certain drums fall out, then back in, and the piano plays an augmented chord solidly in glissandi until the piece just sort of falls apart and ends. The Refined Ear $17.58 The title The Refined Ear is a curious choice for this album by violinist/violist Barbara Lüneburg. The choice of title goes essentially unexplained in the liner notes, but it does not hint at what most casual listeners of classical music might expect. The works for solo violin and viola by composers Georg Friedrich Haas, Salvatore Sciarrino, and Manfred Stahnke are sound explorations in the truest sense of the term. In their compositions, the refinement of which the title refers is in detecting minute, subtle, and evanescent nuances in technique and, in particular, various divisions of the octave. Haas, for example, uses quarter tones and in some instances sixth tones to create a wonderfully broad palate. Add to this exceptionally high demands for extended technique and the result is a set of pieces that has the potential to sound like little more than noise. Fortunately for listeners, Lüneburg herself has an obviously exceptionally refined ear and uses it to deliver performances every bit as detailed and nuanced as the scores from which she plays. With such minute divisions of the octave occurring through the music, anything but the most precise intonation would render the recording unlistenable, but Lüneburg has an amazing capacity for purity of sound and integrity of pitch even in the extreme registers of the violin and viola. ~ Mike D.
