Paintball Gun – How to Choose the Right Gun for You

Selecting the right paintball gun may seem like a daunting task. There are a few basic considerations that can make choosing the right one for you a little easier. These considerations are not in any order of importance.

1. Budget. A basic gun can range in price from under $100 to over $1000. If you are on a tight budget right now, you may want to consider starting with a basic gun that you can upgrade at a later time. The nice thing about a paintball gun is that there is no shortage of upgrades.

2. Type of Play. Without getting extremely deep into the types of paintball games, there are three general types of games – tournament, woods ball, and beginner. The type of gun used in used in each type of game can vary greatly. Tournament play is set up like many other games with periods and pits two teams against one another in a fast-paced game. Woods ball is just as it sounds and is usually played in the outdoors with forts, tunnels, and other various obstacles and places to hide. Beginner play can range from a pick-up game between friends in a backyard to a person playing in their first woods ball game.

3. Type of Paintball Gun. A gun may be upgraded to meet a specific purpose or goal. If you are a beginner, you may want to purchase a package that includes a gun, mask, and other equipment that can be upgradeable at a later time. If you are more experienced, you can choose a specific paintball gun to meet your needs. Possible upgrades to a basic marker can include a sniper kit, AK-47 style or many others.

4. Other Considerations. As always, it is best to try before you buy. You can accomplish this by renting a paintball gun at a field or borrowing a friend’s. It is also good to look for product reviews on a specific gun. There are many other questions you may want to ask yourself to include – What are you looking for in a gun, speed of shooting, accuracy, or both? And how reliable is a paintball gun?

Paintball is a game unlike any other. And choosing the right paintball gun can increase your level of enjoyment as well as contribute to your success in playing the game. You cannot lose by doing your research and making an educated choice. It is also obvious that Paintball can be a dangerous game and should not be played without the proper safety equipment.
